Sami Zayn def. Curt Hawkins
Is this punishment for Hawkins, to get bumped down to job to a new guy in NXT? Well he did his job because Zayn got to look real good in his debut and the crowd is already all about him. This is why this brand doesn’t need so many squashes! ***
Antonio Cesaro def. Yoshi Tatsu
NXT giveth and NXT taketh away. What’s most disappointing about this squash is that I bet these dudes could have a really fun match against each other. But then things turn around immediately as Zayn interrupts Cesaro’s post-match promo and they have a match right now. N/A
Sami Zayn def. Antonio Cesaro
This was mostly Cesaro finding creative ways to beat the everloving shit out of Zayn, but Zayn’s the one that’s getting over huge thanks to a fill ⅓ of the episode being devoted to him. So this wasn’t as good as their famous match later on at Arrival, but I think the Arrival match would have been better had it been an extended version of what they were doing here. Cesaro beats Zayn up some more after the match. ***½
Mason Ryan def. Enzo Amore
Amore was unbearable even before his debut when he was a lumberjack, and he’s worse now. I don’t review squashes, but it was satisfying watching Ryan beat up Amore. N/A
Bray Wyatt def. Corey Graves
Wow that finish (with Rowan and Harper distractions leading directly to the finish) absolutely sucked. The match leading up to it did nothing to deserve its main event spot. Kassius Ohno tries to save Graves after the match, but gets beaten up. That’s a depressing way to end what was shaping up to be a good show. *¾
