Damien Sandow def. Baron Corbin
Corbin looks so weird with a mohawk and a plucky babyface attitude. The commentators announce that the new WWE Performance Center has opened, which gives me hope that the FCW stink is about to fade and that these shows are about to drastically improve. As for the match, it was also SO WEIRD to see Corbin get handled like this, given how overpushed he’d be in just a few years. Sandow then challenges for the NXT Championship. *½
Paige def. Bayley
I don’t really get the hype over Paige. The crowd likes her shtick, but they don’t react to her in the ring and her finisher kills the crowd every time. Bayley on the other hand knows how to connect with the crowd even without being allowed to show much personality yet. And as the commentators predicted on the last show, Rae runs out and attacks Paige after the match because feuds in NXT never end. **¼
Sakamoto nc. Briley Pierce
Pierce is Dolph Ziggler’s younger brother, and Regal questions why they don’t have the same last name. WHY DONT YOU ASK THAT ABOUT BO DALLAS, REGAL?! It seemed like this was going to be a showcase for the K-DOJO alum, but I should have known better as the whole thing is just an excuse for Conor O’Brian to beat everyone up and look like a beast. But nobody makes the save so the whole thing seems directionless. During a subsequent backstage segment I realize that Pierce is also the terrible former backstage correspondent from early post-reboot episodes. Also, it’s kind of nice to see the jobbers vow revenge for once. N/A
Kassius Ohno def. Camacho
I guess Regal knocked the evil out of Ohno and he’s a babyface now. I’m more into him in this role, but this wasn’t the match to get him over with the crowd. He apologizes to Regal after the match, cementing the turn. He also says he’s not sure who he is anymore, which is punctuated by the Wyatt Family coming out for the main event and attacking him. **
Luke Harper & Erick Rowan def. Adrian Neville & Bo Dallas [NXT Tag Team Championship Match]
The first half of this match was pretty dope, with Neville once again carrying all the action and doing a great job of it. Then things came unglued, and it wasn’t the typical boring heel control segment; something just shook loose and they lost the narrative. The finish was the right one, with Dallas losing the titles that were never really his, which opens up some interesting potential stories going forward. **¾
