April 3, 2013 – Winter Park, Florida
Bo Dallas & Adrian Neville def. Luke Harper & Bray Wyatt
Oliver Gray is out injured for 6 months, but for whatever reason Neville is still champion. Also, why was this injury announced after Gray was seen fighting last week in the ring? Brad Maddox and Kassius Ohno are subbing in for William Regal on commentary, and Maddox is so bad it doesn’t seem real. Our heroes won very decisively, and in exciting fashion, so that should put this feud to bed, right? ***
Regal runs up from out of nowhere and beats the crap out of Ohno, even going as far as trying to gouge his eye out. The crowd is really into it, and no explanation was ever given as to why Ohno had replaced (a clearly uninjured) Regal on commentary. Ohno is out of action on commentary but sadly, Maddox remains.
Paige & Sasha Banks def. Summer Rae & Audrey Marie
This was storyline over substance and kind of made the heels look like chumps (Rae straight up ran away rather than fight Paige, and then Marie got suckered into Paige’s finisher like a… sucker), but I guess that’s what you want on what is shaping up to be a season finale of sorts. **
I have to take back my season finale claim a bit, as Regal vs. Ohno in a realfordeal match is made for next week.
Big E Langston def. Conor O’Brian [NXT Championship Match]
This was better than their first match, but not by a lot. O’Brian never felt like a real threat, and Langston treats him like any other jobber after the match. On the bright side there, at least O’Brian is officially out of the title picture. **¼
