NXT 81

September 6, 2011 – Toledo Ohio

Some high-pitched fella named Jack Korpelo joins William Regal on commentary. Todd Grisham has apparently quit or been fired.

Darren Young starts the show. He thanks Regal for stopping Young from putting a bad beating on Matt Striker last week. Regal’s had enough, and the two will fight tonight.

AJ & Titus O’Neil def. Maxine & Derrick Bateman
Regal gets annoyed at Bateman looking lazy on the apron and breaks kayfabe on commentary. Sometimes I love this show. That was the most interesting thing about this match, which was better than singles matches between the men or women involved, but not by a lot. **

Yoshi Tatsu def. Tyson Kidd
Tatsu returns wearing a mask over a painted face. This suffered from Darkside Hulk syndrome, where Tatsu wasn’t quite changing his style enough for it to be interesting, and where he did change it just served to slow down the whole thing. Striker’s commentary was also really annoying. **½

William Regal def. Darren Young
JTG tried to interfere for no reason that’s particularly clear, and the timing of said interference was totally screwed up by Striker, who is terrible at everything. Regal wins anyway. This was pretty awful. ¾*
