February 8, 2011 – Green Bay, Wisconsin
The show starts with the American Gladiators-style joust thing. Byron Saxton wins the thing, though the instant replay is dubious. Then they have a rematch and Saxton wins decisively.
Derrick Bateman def. Byron Saxton
This was fine, just fine, but the finish had Bateman learning how to do submissions from Daniel Bryan on the fly. That’s awesome, and what the entire run of this show should have featured over and over. Many points for that finish, even if the rest of this match wasn’t much. **¾
Next up is a Price is Right challenge. WWE swag is brought out and the rookies have to guess the price of the items without going over. The rookies from season 3 are the Vanna Whites (I know that’s not the same show). Dolph Ziggler makes me laugh out loud with his, “that’s the first time Saxton’s been over,” line. Brodus Clay wins the challenge.
Brodus Clay def. Johnny Curtis
There’s a stupid angle in which Curtis believes that his pro R-Truth has been talking trash about him. It’d be less dumb, but it presumes that Saxton (who started the rumor) could get inside anyone’s head. Since Saxton is useless, there’s no foundation to the angle. This was all punches and kicks, which I suppose it had to be because the pros were fooling around on live mics for most of the match. *½
Clay and Curtis are tied in immunity points, and the crowd decides that Curtis should be the one with immunity. Josh Matthews points how dumb it is that that’s the case when the show accidentally backed into a match that Clay won, and thus the big guy should have immunity. Whatever, Saxton is the one who gets eliminated anyway.
