June 8, 2010 – Tampa, Florida
Last night, the NXT rookies from season 1 banded together to form the Nexus. They went on Raw, beat the crap out of John Cena, destroyed the ring and surrounding area, and got Daniel Bryan fired because he choked someone with their own tie.
The pros and rookies are brought to the ring. There will be Pro’s Polls and WWE Universe Polls. The prize for winning this season of NXT is the same, a title shot on PPV. About that, Wade Barrett used his season-win prize to get into a six-man title match at Night of Champions. I think that’s pretty dumb, but not as dumb as what the winner of season 2 would do with his prize.
John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood def. Zack Ryder & Titus O’Neil
This was crazy short, and barely featured the rookies at all before Morrison pinned O’Neil. Might have been for the best. ½*
MVP & Percy Watson def. Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris
An errant illegal tag led to a cool moment when the referee enforced the rules for no other reason than to enforce the rules. This was a step or two better and more interesting than the last match, and involved the rookies more as well. *½
Next up the full Nexus attack from Monday… unclipped… for almost 15 minutes. Then they go to the ring with the rookies and pros all in the ring. Some of the rookies say that it was a cowardly attack, but that they made a strong statement. Some say other, stupid shit. On the bright side, Michael McGillicutty thankfully calls the rest of the rookies stupid. Anyway, Matt Striker thinks the rookies aren’t respectful enough, so he cues the pros to beat up the rookies as an example. I get what they were going for, but none of it worked here because on NXT, the establishment are all dicks .
