CM Punk & Darren Young def. Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel
This was perfectly fine, but for a match over 10 minutes on this show, perfectly fine gets a little dull. The finish was cute, as Punk hit the GTS and Young gets the pin over Hardy after interference from the Straight Edge Society. Punk and his friends beat up everyone, including Young, after the match. Michael Cole says the quiet part out loud, “Now I’m really confused.” You said it, dude. **¾
The Great Khali def. Daniel Bryan
I don’t review squashes, but this was kinda fun. After the match, Big Show comes out and chokeslams Bryan because Show and the Miz are tag team partners, and Bryan screwed with Miz on Smackdown. N/A
A good one-fourth of this show is hype for other WWE shows.
Heath Slater def. Michael Tarver
Tarver was looking for revenge for his pro Carlito, who Slater beat the week before. That didn’t work out, as Slater won after a short but back-and-forth match. During the match, Michael Cole (the heel) talked about Tarver’s difficult life (five kids, homeless for a while living in his car) while Josh Matthews (the babyface) scoffed and complained about Cole talking about these things. What the hell was that? Tarver attacks Slater after the match. *½
Wade Barrett def. Skip Sheffield
Sheffield’s pro William Regal is still annoyed by him. Chris Jericho spends Barrett’s matches screaming at the commentators to talk about him more, and that’s more entertaining than pretty much anything else that happens on this show. The gimmick of Josh Matthews stealing other commentators’ lame catch phrases is less fun. *
