April 1, 2008 – Miami, Florida
Kane started the show by coming out to the ring and bragging about being the new champ and for removing 1/10th of Chavo Guerrero with a chokeslam in a thirty second match. CM Punk teased cashing in his Money in the Bank match, but instead the segment led to a main event tag match against Guerrero & Shelton Benjamin. This is the first show I’ve watched on the redesigned Network and it’s so nice to be able to quickly skip through this predictable segment.
Mike Knox def. Stevie Richards
Apparently these guys had been attacking each other backstage, but those segments were only shown on WWE Mobile so this is the first I’ve heard of it. Knox was trying to make a name at Richards’ expense, but Richards was a jobber so this didn’t make sense. This was actually kind of spicy to start but cooled off really quickly. Knox won with his crappy finisher in like four minutes after a rather one-sided match. The commentators were saying that the feud will continue, but this was definitive as hell and also Richards would never wrestle on ECW again after this. **
Big Show def. Colin Delaney
Why revert back to this tired Delaney-gets-squashed angle so quickly? They tried to excuse it by calling this an April fools joke, but it wasn’t funny… or interesting. N/A
CM Punk & Kane def. Chavo Guerrero & Shelton Benjamin
This was another example of a hot start that lost momentum before the halfway mark. Punk’s face-in-peril segment was a real drag, which sucks because the crowd had been really into the match up until that point. It was also irritating hearing the commentators talk about how fast Kane is for his size, only to watch the actually fast Benjamin have to stall his tremendous momentum so that the champ could get into position for transitional spots. Punk won the match for his team with the GTS on Benjamin. **½
