Jonathan Coachman is out in the ring, trying to figure out who Vince McMahon’s illegitimate kid is. Apparently it’s a member of the roster. McMahon has also named a new ECW General Manager, Armando Estrada. Estrada brings out John Morrison and CM Punk for a contract signing. They yell at each other a bit, and Estrada puts them in matches against the Boogeyman and Big Daddy V, respectively.
Big Daddy V def. CM Punk
V won by countout after shoving Punk from the apron to the announce table. I guess since Punk already beat Morrison, it made sense to have him look vulnerable going into the PPV. And if they wanted to keep V strong (though after the better part of 13 years trying to get this dude over at this point this was beating a dead horse) putting him over Punk makes some kind of a point. Didn’t make this entertaining, though. *
Big Daddy V def. Tommy Dreamer
This was set up by a weird segment in which Dreamer had 60 seconds to get to the ring with people in the back trying to slow him down. The whole thing felt like it was from another show. Then Dreamer got more or less squashed. This episode is weird. ½*
The Miz, Layla, & Brooke act all mean girls at Balls Mahoney and Kelly Kelly’s potential romance and bully Kelly into walking away from Mahoney. Then the commentators crap on the idea that people might go out with each other for any other reason than that both of them are good looking. Great message for the kids.
Stevie Richards def. Kevin Thorn
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a program start out so promising (given who was involved) and fizzle out so quickly. They went from having a spirited match with an upset Richards win, to a Thorn-dominated match with a Richards fluke win, to this nothing match that was no different from all of Thorn’s other nothing matches. Thorn pins Richards, but keeps beating him up after the match so the referee reverses the decision. It’s not interesting to watch Richards win through escalating failures. ¾*
The Boogeyman def. John Morrison
This was boring and sloppy and it wasn’t all Boogeyman’s fault. Morrison was way off here. Boogeyman won by disqualification when Morrison shoved the referee. Then Boogeyman hits a chokebomb and tries to put worms in Morrison’s mouth. What a supreme sack of garbage all of this was. This might have been the worst episode ever of this show. ½*
A few days later they doubled down on this trash and had a tag team extension of this episode on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

CM Punk & The Boogeyman vs. Big Daddy V & John Morrison
This was the main event of the show, for reasons I can’t begin to understand. On commentary, Michael Cole said nothing was resolved in the singles matches from the last episode of ECW. Sure am glad I watched that show. This match was quite short, but it was mostly Punk and Morrison going at it so it was mostly solid, and the freaks’ contributions weren’t terrible either. **¼
