Sabu def. Tony Mamaluke
This was pretty much an extended squash for Sabu, who earlier in the week on Raw had started a program with John Cena and will face him on Sunday on PPV. This was pretty sloppy and totally reliant on tables and chairs without any build, so I clearly hate it. N/A
Kelly says she was too excited and couldn’t get her bra off last week. This week we see it all. Meanwhile, Rob Van Dam tells us he’ll be teaming with Kurt Angle to take on Rated RKO (in their first ever match as a team) in the main event.
Big Show comes out to the ring, followed by Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer claims he’s ECW”s gatekeeper and attacks Show. Show responds by beating the crap out of him. Outside, a Vampire is staring at the building.
The Sandman def. Macho Libre
Libre is Tony DeVito doing a Randy Savage/luchador mash up. Sandman beats him about as quickly as he beat the Zombie last week. This shit is boring; was this gimmick network mandated too? Joey Styles calls Libre a big steaming pile of sports entertainment… but it’s on your show two weeks in a row now, dude. Joey Styles sucks. N/A
Paul Heyman assembles the troops because Cena is supposedly in the building. Then Cena just faces them straight up backstage. That’s pretty cool. He tells Heyman to bring the whole crew to the PPV so that he and Sabu can have an extreme lumberjack match.
Kelly starts dancing and it’s awkward and unsexy. Not sure why she’s so stilted this week when she seemed much more comfortable last week. Not sure why I’m examining this segment either. Before she can get naked, Mike Knox runs out in his wrestling gear to cover her up in a towel.
Rob Van Dam & Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton & Edge
Angle is going to be fighting Orton on the PPV on Sunday. Their first match was a pretty decisive win for Angle, Angle was 2-0 over Orton in televised singles matches, and there’s no stipulation to this new one, so it’s pretty clear this was just to get Orton some rub from the imminently-departing Angle. This match started out pretty strong but really dragged in the middle. I still feel uncomfortable when I hear the crack whore chants for Lita. Things picked up again down the stretch with a mini finisher-fest. I expected more, to be honest. **¾
