WWE ECW 193

February 16, 2010 – Kansas City, Missouri

The Big Show & The Miz def. Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu {WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match}
This was basically a squash. Yes the challengers got a bit of offense in, but the champs didn’t break and sweat and Miz got the win with the Skull Crushing Finale at 5:31 like it was nothing. **

They start introducing the cast of NXT, which will be WWE wrestlers mentoring debuting wrestlers in a series of matches and contests. It was pretty dumb until it got rebooted two years later. Then, Zack Ryder threatens to interfere in the main event tonight because he thinks he should be in it and because it’s Extreme Rules so it doesn’t really matter.

They do one last Abraham Washington Show, this time in the ring instead of on the ramp. He is his own guest. Shelton Benjamin isn’t having it. He calls the AWS unwatchable. Vance Archer comes out to threaten Benjamin. Trent Barreta & Caylen Cross come out and barely get a word out before Vladimir Kozlov comes out. Kozlov and Benjamin clear the ring and shake hands. And now it’s over.

Ezekiel Jackson def. Christian {ECW Championship Extreme Rules Match}
Christian outdoes Benjamin’s promo from last week before the match. Ryder’s promised interference happened early and was dispatched quickly. Then Tiffany did the same to Rosa Mendes, which was neat. I think they made a big mistake by leaving it at that. They should have gone all out and combined the previous segment with this one, having all the interconnected issues play out during this plunder brawl. That would have really been in the spirit of the original ECW. As it is, this was a decent enough weapon battle. It got less interesting as it went, and it ended when Regal distracted Christian, allowing Jackson to hit a uranage through a table for the win and the title at 7:42 (shown). **½

They keep talking about NXT as the show goes off the air. I already watched all of that show, so check out my reviews starting with the link below.
