October 3, 2006 – Topeka, Kansas
Hardcore Holly demands a match with Rob Van Dam tonight to make up for his hard-fought loss. Paul Heyman doesn’t want the insurance liability. Holly threatens Heyman, so Test takes him out with a chair to the injured back. Heyman gives Test the match against RVD.
Big Show & Matt Striker def. Sandman & Sabu
Striker doesn’t get his own entrance; what a loser. This started hot for about a minute, then slowed way down while Striker was in control. Then the finish was frustrating as Show got Striker the winning pin. Nothing was embarrassing though. *¾
Kelly Kelly and Trinity hype their strip poker game next week. This poker thing has gotten more build up than most matches on this show get.
Kevin Thorn def. Tommy Dreamer
A whole mess of nothing happened in this match and then Thorn won by hitting the “hardcore icon” with a walking stick one time. Dreamer stayed with WWE after this match. ¾*
Maria is going to bring Candice Michelle from Raw to the strip poker game next week. She’s dumb and someone told her that losing cards are the best way for everyone to win. Funny right? This is so desperate it’s depressing.
CM Punk def. Danny Doering
Punk wins in like thirty seconds. After the match, Kelly strips for him on the ramp. Knox interrupts and tells Punk to stay away from Kelly. Punk eggs him on but Knox decides not to fight. N/A
Ashley and Kristal from Smackdown are also coming to play strip poker. This has gotten as more promotion than Booker T’s main event on this show.
Test def. Rob Van Dam {Extreme Rules Match}
This was well worked, playing off of Holly’s injury the week before. In the second half of the match, RVD has to fight against Test and Heyman’s security. As the commentators are reaching a fever pitch over the match, they’re clearly told to hype next week’s strip poker segment. What an absolute nightmare of a production this is. That aside, RVD and Test put in a good effort here, drawing the crowd into RVD’s fight against the odds, and giving Test a Show-assisted win that had enough weapons involved that it didn’t feel like a total rip-off. Too bad these shockingly good RVD matches were being overshadowed by porn for preteens. ***¼
