September 9, 2008 – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Matt Hardy starts the show, celebrating his championship win. Mark Henry charges out and demands a rematch. Tony Atlas warns Hardy never to touch him again. Then Henry lays out Hardy. Hardy gets his wits back, dumps Henry, and hits the Twist of Fate on Atlas. Later, they announce it’ll be Finlay & Hardy vs. Henry & Mike Knox in a tag match.
John Morrison def. Evan Bourne
They’d run Miz & Morrison vs. Bourne & Rey Mysterio the night before, and I wouldn’t have been mad if they’d just run a rematch of that here. A lot of this match took place in a chinlock, which is pretty bogus given the competitors. Matt Striker won’t stop talking about the election on commentary (pumping up Sarah Palin before crapping on Hillary Clinton, proving that even a decade ago Republicans were obsessed with Clinton even when she wasn’t part of the process anymore), and it’s pretty delicious in hindsight. Miz distracted Bourne, allowing Morrison to hit the Moonlight Driver for the win at 11:47 (shown). That was a nice chunk of time given to them and it’s a shame they couldn’t make more of it. **½
Jack Swagger def. Josh Daniels
Swagger looks like a caveman here. Striker jumps the gun on Swagger being a heel and makes excuses for him cheating, despite the fact that he doesn’t cheat here. Swagger wins in 2:19 with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Total squash. N/A
Matt Hardy & Finlay def. Mark Henry & Mike Knox
This was more boring than I expected it to be, and that’s saying something. There’s really nothing else to say about it. The finish saw Finlay nail Henry with the shillelagh and Hardy somehow bust Knox open with the Twist of Fate and get the winning pin at 9:33 (shown). The only logical place to go from here is Finlay getting a title shot, since both heels are losers. *½
