Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne def. Shelton Benjamin & Mike Knox
Um, did Evan Bourne’s presence just make ECW good? Two weeks in a row he’s on the show and two weeks in a row we get at least one good match. This was a totally fundamentally sound tag team match that actually made Knox look like a monster, even while taking the pin. Bourne got to shine and he and Kingston got to look terrifically smart. They won when Kingston hit Knox with the Trouble in Paradise and Bourne follows up with a missile dropkick (brilliantly worked out when Bourne realized mid-air that a Meteora wasn’t going to work) at 4:25. I could have used at least five more minutes of this. **¾
Someone named Tiffany is hanging out in Teddy Long’s office. Armando Estrada comes looking for him and flirts with Tiffany. Long walks in and books Estrada against Finlay in another match to prove that he deserves an ECW contract. Tiffany is apparently Long’s assistant.
Victoria def. Kelly Kelly
This was kind of slow and clumsy, but points to Kelly for trying out some new stuff I guess. Victoria won by knockout when she sent Kelly to the floor for a faceplant and Kelly stopped responding to the referee at 3:55. *½
Finlay def. Armando Estrada
Finlay squished Estrada in 51 seconds. N/A
Colin Delaney def. Armando Estrada
Same story as last week, except this time Finlay snuck in a shot with the shillelagh and Delaney won in 8 seconds with a DDT. N/A
Hornswoggle def. Armando Estrada
More embarrassment for Estrada, this time thanks to a big splash from the little guy in 8 seconds. Delaney tries to dance with Finlay after the match and eats a shillelagh for his trouble. Somehow that’s not a heel turn for Finlay. N/A
Mark Henry calls out the Big Show, referencing some promo that wasn’t on the show last week (maybe it was on Smackdown). Show comes out with a nasty shiner and bloodshot eye that he got at the PPV. Henry wants the first shot at the title if Show wins at the upcoming PPV. Show tells Henry that if he keeps campaigning for an ass whooping then he’s going to get elected. I like that line. Henry skulks off, but Kane comes out and they have a violence-free face-off. That leads right into the main event.
John Morrison & The Miz def. Kane & CM Punk {WWE Tag Team Championship Match}
This was rather basic stuff, with a bit of nice teamwork from the tag champs thrown in. It was pretty interesting that Kane played face-in-peril here, being that he’s the dominant champion of the brand and that Punk’s ribs got “injured” during the match. Morrison hit the Moonlight Drive on Punk for the win at 7:56 (shown). That finish was very flat, if technically logical. **½
