WWE ECW 01

June 13, 2006 – Trenton, New Jersey

Paul Heyman starts the show by bringing out Rob Van Dam. RVD is already wearing the WWE Championship, so Heyman hands him the ECW belt. RVD is going to keep both because the WWE title spins. Edge & Lita come out as invited guests, but Edge ends up spearing RVD. He retreats through the crowd but John Cena is there and beats him up. They fight with RVD and Edge comes out on top, attacking Heyman on his way out. Heyman responds by saying he’s bringing ECW to Raw.

The Sandman def. The Zombie
I have nothing to add to this that you haven’t read 100 times before. Sandman squashes the Zombie, who went on to keep using the zombie gimmick on the indies for years after this. N/A

Kelly is an exhibitionist. That means she’s going to take off all of her clothes for us tonight. K.

Kurt Angle def. Justin Credible
Credible is still using his geeky post-X-Factor music. Angle just squashes the crap out of him, which makes me wonder if it was smart for the commentators to acknowledge that Credible was a former ECW champion. After the match, Angle says he’s going to beat Orton again at Vengeance. What was the reason for the rematch? Orton was beaten really decisively at One Night Stand. N/A

Heyman announces that he’s throwing out whatever main event he had planned before in favor of a 10-man Extreme Battle Royal. All weapons are legal, which the commentators bug out over. They seem like such geeks freaking out over weapons in ECW. Like, no shit. The winner of the Battle Royal will face John Cena at Vengeance.

Kelly is still excited to strip, and some Vampire is waiting outside. A little later, Kelly “strips,” keeping all the good bits covered because this is television (and because she literally couldn’t get her bra off) and what did anyone expect? Tazz is more or less reduced to Jerry Lawler.

Sabu def. Tommy Dreamer, Al Snow, Roadkill, Danny Doring, Stevie Richards, Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke, Balls Mahoney, and Big Show {Extreme Battle Royal}
Big Guido is fully involved in this match, so it’s really an 11-man battle royal. This was guys smacking Big Show in the face with sheet metal and him eliminating them in response. Sabu and Big Guido pull a ‘92 RUmble Ric Flair/Sid on Big Show’s Hulk Hogan to give Sabu the win. It was kind of fun watching the big guy do his thing, but there’s no reason to go out of your way to see this. **½
