July 25, 2006 – Detroit, Michigan
Sandman def. Mike Knox
What is the deal with this show repeating segments from one week to the next? Before the match, the show starts with Mike Knox saying that he didn’t abandon Kelly Kelly last week, he ran to the back to get EMTs for her. There isn’t much of a match here before Kelly volunteers to be a human shield for Knox and then Test runs out to attack Sandman and draw a disqualification. The inevitable tag match that this sets up is going to be so bad. N/A
And then Tommy Dreamer attacks Knox and Test backstage, confirming my fears. Then Sabu asks Paul Heyman for a title match. Heyman says no and then tells Sabu to take the night off. He then passes Little Guido, imagines a slight, and then tells the SWAT team to attack him. They drag him out to the ring for a match. But first, CM Punk talks about how he grew up on the streets and how he’s debuting next week.
The Vampire def. Little Guido
This is a very boring squash, and it’s weird that they wouldn’t just tell us the vampire’s name. N/A
The Reject Shannon Moore is debuting soon.
Justin Credible def. Balls Mahoney
This is the first match over four minutes on the undercard of this show in like a month. That said this didn’t need five minutes to be another example of how every match isn’t extreme rules anymore. Credible won by DQ when Mahoney hit him with a chair. It was pretty boring. **
Big Show doesn’t understand why Heyman doesn’t want him to fight Sabu. Heyman isn’t saying why, he just wants Show to beat Kane.
Big Show def. Kane {ECW Championship Extreme Rules Match}
Tazz and Joey Styles don’t know how to pronounce the word behemoth. They both use it a lot and say it wrong every single time. Tazz also says that every WWE lunk is a perfect fit for ECW as long as they’re aggressive for five seconds or use a foreign object. I wonder if he felt like crap saying stuff like that on commentary, or of all the money helped him ignore that sting. I’d like some of that salve for myself. The first half of this match was super boring, but then they broke out the bells and whistles to jazz it up down the stretch. It sort of worked. Sabu attacks Show after the match. **½
