April 24, 2015 – Los Angeles, California
Black Lotus has been training for eight weeks. She’s not totally philosophically aligned with her trainer, El Dragon Azteca. We see some of Lotus’s training, which includes her doing a schoolboy roll up in the shadows. Azteca gets the better of her. Why is he teaching her martial arts and not lucha?
Sexy Star def. Pentagon
I was really impressed with Star’s selling here. There was a dire moment when Pentagon hit two major lungblowers and went for his arm-breaking move. Star scrambled away but then immediately collapsed, a thing that everyone should do in situations like that but so many just get up and act as if their damage has reset. Moments later, Star hit a lungblower of her own for the win (though really, Pentagon’s shoulders were up) at 7:02. I really dug this. ***¼
Johnny Mundo is training when Alberto el Patron comes in and teases him for being eliminated from the trios tournament and for not being able to beat Prince Puma in Aztec Warfare. Mundo warns him to be careful.
Ivelisse, Son of Havoc & Angelico def. The Mack, Big Ryck & Killshot, and Cage, King Cuerno & Texano {Lucha Underground Trios Championship Elimination Match}
Shawn Daivari is still at ringside. The action ends up in his lap, causing him to attack Texano. That leads to Killshot hitting a diving double stomp to eliminate the bad guys at 8:04. Kind of funny how AAA’s top guy for the last while was just jobbing and jobbing in LU. This got a little sloppy once the heels got eliminated, but it was action-packed enough to entertain. Angelico hit Killshot with the Fall of the Angels for the win and the titles at 13:54. But wait, did they win the titles? ***¼
Dario Cueto comes out and says that the dysfunctional trio hasn’t won the titles. There’s one more team that he’s secretly recruited to be in the real finals… The Crew.
Ivelisse, Son of Havoc & Angelico def. Bael, Cortez Castro & Mr. Cisco {Lucha Underground Trios Championship No Disqualification Match}
It looked like the Crew would quickly steal this thing for the first few minutes, but then the quirky babyfaces made an insane comeback, diving off of a balcony and off of Cueto’s office into the ring. Ivelisse caned down two opponents and then Havoc & Angelico dove onto them with stereo dives at for the win and the titles, for real this time, at 6:39. Kind of a Mankind Hell in a Cell situation, where a couple of spots have made people overrate this in the place. It’s a fun spectacle but it doesn’t come together as a great match. **¾
