Prince Puma is working out, thinking about how he lost the title. Pentagon approaches him and lets him know that they’ll be partners tonight. Pentagon is still doing hit for his master (later, Vampiro denies that he’s coaching Pentagon to keep doing brutal things), and they’re taking on the Disciples of Death. But then Pentagon threatens Puma and they brawl. Seems like Pentagon was trying to bring some passion out of Puma there.
Johnny Mundo def. Killshot
Mundo won with a low blow, the Moonlight Drive, and the End of the World at 4:25. They did a surprisingly good job of giving Killshot a near-win tease, but aside from that this was face-paced but disjointed. After the match, Mundo calls out Mil Muertes. Cage comes out and challenges the champ as well. Muertes is on his throne, but his arm is in a sling. Mundo and Cage stare each other down but Mundo bails and then attacks Cage from behind. Cage comes out on top anyway. **½
The Moth still has Sexy Star tied up in his house. It seems his sister is calling the shots, and she says it’s almost time for the three of them to go back to the Temple. This is a little dark for a wrestling show.
The Mack def. PJ Black
Pretty odd that they jobbed Black here after showing a video package for him before the match where in he beat up a couple of lucha bikers who were stalking him. He was more over in the Temple than I ever saw him be over in WWE. Mack won in 4:43 with a stunner out of nowhere. The match was pretty good, even if the finish was puzzling. I think Vampiro could have chilled a little bit with the “isn’t it funny that Black’s name is Black and he’s fighting a black guy so be careful what you say,” jokes. It wasn’t offensive really, it was just lame and got old immediately. **¾
Kobra Moon is coming next week. They show a video of her that’s basically the same thing as the Black video from earlier, but at a shipping pier instead of a gas station.
Prince Puma & Pentagon def. Barrio Negro, El Siniestro de la Muerte & Trece {Handicap Match}
Vampiro goes on and on about how he had to go through a ton of therapy to get over his business with Pentagon. As with any storyline involving the need for Vampiro to explain it, it makes no sense. The Disciples showed a little more teamwork here than they did at the end of season one, so that’s a plus. They’re still not that interesting. The crowd was dead for a lot of this because the flow died about halfway through. From there it was dive-rest-dive-rest-dive and there’s just nothing to that. Puma hit the 630 Senton on Muerte at 7:33, though Pentagon stole the pin. Pentagon attacked Puma after the match, but couldn’t break his arm. **½
The unmistakable voice of Rey Mysterio tells the new El Dragon Azteca that the moniker is part of his family. He was supposed to inherit that mask but he chose a different path. He pumps up the new Azteca and then says he’s glad he went with the mask he chose. Cool.
