Catrina tells Mil Muertes that she’s done with him now that she has her life back. She tells him that she loved Fenix, not him, and she’s not throwing away her freedom. She gives Muertes the magic rock and walks out. Melissa Santos approaches her and starts a fight. They break some glass and throw random things at each other. They argue over who Fenix loved. They end up on the roof, where Muertes helps Santos by puttin gth emagic rock in her hand and throwing her to the ground. Catrina couldn’t be bothered to act/react to anything going on here. Santos and Aerostar look at Catrina’s body. Aerostar asks Santos for Catrina’s amulet, which he uses to suck Fenix’s lifeforce out of Catrina. Then he travels to the past, gives Fenix his life back, and then in the present brings him back to Santos. But there’s something very odd about Fenix’s eyes. At eleven minutes, that has to be the longest intro vignette in this show’s history.
Matanza Cueto def. Joey Wrestling
After Cueto’s attack last week, Johnny Mundo won’t be making good on his title shot tonight and may never return to Lucha Underground, but Wrestling wanted revenge on Mundo’s behalf. That didn’t go well. Matt Striker makes a mercury joke, lest we think he doesn’t know that Wrestling was in WWE like everyone else on the damn planet. Wrestling hit a DVD, a low blow, and a Pedigree, but Cueto no-sold it and hit the Wrath of the Gods for the win at 2:55. Cueto makes Wrestling disappear after the match, so that’s the end of his little run I assume. *½
Killshot def. Big Bad Steve
I did not need seven minutes of Steve. Son of Havoc came out early to watch the match. There were one or two interesting moments here, like Killshot countering a DVD to a wild stomp in midair. But mostly this was insanely slow and served just to have Killshot show Havoc how tough and cocky he is. He won at 7:21 with the Killstomp. I think one-third of this match would have been plenty. Killshot then starts with Havoc and they brawl. Havoc gets his hands on Killshot’s mask, and Killshot runs off. *¾
Pentagon Dark def. Hernandez {Lucha Underground Championship Match}
Hernandez answered an open challenge, calling Dark a little bitch for breaking his arm. That doesn’t track, but Hernandez rarely says things that do. Compared to the other matches on this episode, this was a clinic. But it was worked at Hernanez’s pace with the challenger in control for much of it. Dark did some weird things too, which Vampiro called out on commentary as not from his teachings. Dark hit a pumphandle piledriver out of nowhere for the win at 7:04. After the match, King Cuerno came out and hit Dark with the Thrill of the Kill on the title belt. **½
