Pentagon def. Argenis
The commentators talk about the reconstructive surgery that Pentagon’s recent opponents have had to get, which makes it all the more puzzling that Dario Cueto offered them up to Alberto del Patron. Clark Duke is apparently a Pentagon fan, because he’s shown in the crowd smiling as Argenis gets dropped on his head. Josh Barnett is also present. Why all of a sudden is the production so focused on the VIPs in the crowd? Pentagon gets the win with his armbar in 5:03. He pulls Argenis’ arm out of the socket after the match. This was decidedly not a squash, and I’m curious how many episodes they’ll keep Argenis off the show. Fun little match. **½
Catrina tells Fenix that he has to bury Mil Muertes before Muertes does the same to him. Then she disappears. Fenix doesn’t seem concerned that Catrina is a witch. Later, we see Konnan making himself a steel cane; one that won’t break when he hits Cage with it. This is a lot of production money to spend on a guy who will never wrestle a match in Lucha Underground.
Angelico def. Ivelisse
Son of Havoc is the special guest referee. The match was awkward. Ivelisse had a hard time maneuvering around the very tall Angelico. The sexually suggestive moments weren’t smoothly executed either, and there were so many of them that the joke wore thin. It also creeped me out that Angelico was comfortable touching Ivelisse inappropriately but not so every time he actually hit her… in the wrestling match he signed up for. Havoc’s bias toward his girlfriend was lost in the rest of things. Ivelisse got frustrated with her husband not counting fast and ended up getting roundhouse kicked at 6:13. I kind of hated this. Nobody is acting how a person would act in any real life situation. If you’re going to do something this storyline heavy, there needs to be something to connect to. ½*
Catrina tells Mil Muertes that she transformed him into the monster he is, and next week she’s sending Fenix to send him back to his boyish origin. She disappears and Muertes stares at the magic rock.
Johnny Mundo def. King Cuerno {Steel Cage Match}
The episode is called No Escape, the whole build was about how these two won’t get stuck on the floor again like in their first match… and then they announced that escaping the cage was a winning scenario. Mundo clearly agreed that it was stupid, because when he had the opportunity to escape he decided to hit Cuerno with a dive off of the cage for the win at 13:41 instead. This was a solid enough way to spend a quarter hour of your life. They didn’t change the cage match game, but they had a fine brawl and capped it off with a big spot. That’s all you really need to end a short, relatively nothing feud like this. ***¼
