April 8, 2015 – Los Angeles, California
Dario Cueto wants the trios titles to be as important as the singles championship, so he’s tasking Prince Puma with finding two partners to enter the tournament. Their opponents will be a King Cuerno-led team. Also, the Lucha Underground Championship will be on the line tonight.
Son of Havoc, Ivelisse & Angelico def. Fenix, Aerostar & Drago {Semifinal Match}
This match featured a lot of indy nonsense and WWE-style gaga. Right after some flippy dippy sloppy garbage out of the corner, Drago and Aerostar argued over who would get the pin. And on the other side of the ring, the love triangle team couldn’t get on the same page at all. So three fourths of the teams in this tournament so far don’t get along. That’s overdone. All the betrayal kind of evened itself out, and Havoc on his own beat Drago on his own by hitting a Shooting Star Press at 8:13. **¼
Konnan tells Puma that he’s recruiting Hernandez for the team. Johnny Mundo pops up to let Puma know that he has his back too. Konnan is none too pleased.
Sexy Star vs. Super Fly {Mask vs. Mask Match}
Cueto set the stipulation for this match after the two of them were already in the ring as a way to make sure they don’t take it easy on each other. So I guess we’re supposed to believe that last week’s main event was a trap for Star, and not a punishment for Ryck. Seems Cueto still thinks Star is a freak who doesn’t belong in Lucha Underground. The stipulation seems really big to be dropped like this. The match was kind of punchy-kicky boring, but if they were trying to get Fly over as a heel they did a solid job. Star got the win at 5:47 with la magistral. Star reluctantly takes his mask after the match. And then they hug… so he’s not a heel and I don’t get the point of this. Pentagon attacks after the match and breaks Fly’s arm. **¼
Prince Puma def. King Cuerno {Lucha Underground Championship Match}
Puma brings out his trios partners with him, and Cuerno does the same with Cage and Texano. I really wish they’d done this non-title, as Cuerno’s recent record is one loss and one draw. There was a ton of gaga in this one too. Both guys’ teammates got involved, and the action never really took off as a result. Also, I’m thinking Cuerno isn’t that good. Puma won in 9;03 with the 630 senton. Everyone brawls as the show comes to a close. **¾
