Dario Cueto visits his brother and tells him that locking him away to keep him away from Rey Mysterio was a mistake. Mysterio hit him with a 619, so he’s letting Matanza fight him in the main event on the 100th episode of Lucha Underground.
Son of Madness def. Mascarita Sagrada
Just a squash to put heat on the feud between Madness and Sagrada’s friend Son of Havoc. Madness gets the win in 2:12 with a brainbuster. Havoc attacks Madness after the match. Paul London carries Sagrada to the back as Cueto announces that Havoc and Madness will fight in the main event for an Ancient Medallion in a Boyle Heights Biker Brawl. N/A
Marty Martinez def. Argenis
This was an excuse to get Martinez acting creepy around Melissa Santos. The match was much longer than it needed to be for that purpose. Argenis more or less gets unmasked and busted open here too, which seems like overkill for a squash. I get that it’s meant to tease that Martinez might do the same to Fenix, but in that case wouldn’t this be a more appropriate spot for Fenix’s friend Aerostar? He hits a Dominator into a facebuster for the win at 5:10. After the match, Martinez throws Argenis’s bloody mask at Santos and challenges Fenix to a match at Ultima Lucha. Fenix runs in and attacks, taking out both Martinez siblings. He says he’ll put his mask on the line against Martinez’s hair. *¾
Joey Ryan def. Sexy Star
This was as dull as the typical Ryan match until Taya came out to sarcastically cheer for Star. Then Star threw Ryan around by his chest hair, but a distraction from Taya gave Ryan the win at 4:48. Cortez Castro runs out after the match and attacks him with a kendo stick. **
Castro barges into Cueto’s office to put everything on the table. Cueto lets him know that Ryan is also a cop, and he’s booking Castro and Ryan against each other in a street fight next week. He baits Castro into it by making it for one of the Ancient Medallions and saying it’ll prove to the rest of the cops in his precinct who the badass is between the two.
Son of Havoc def. Son of Madness {Ancient Medallion Boyle Heights Biker Brawl}
The extended walk-and-fight didn’t do much for me here, but the ringside and in-ring biz was solid fun. I most like the strong style exchange in the last few minutes. The finish was neat too, as Madness went to hit Havoc with a hammer, but Havoc blocked it with a beer bottle to the face and then hit a Shooting Star Press for the win at 13:05. I wish this had been paced a bit better but there was stuff to like here. ***¼
