Aerostar def. Drago
The last minute of this match ruined the whole thing for me. Aerostar totally no-sold a Ligerbomb and then walked the ropes for no reason to hit a hurricanrana. Then he hit his springboard splash for the win at 8:11. They finally gave a match between these guys more time, let it build from their previous matches, and then squandered that with a stupid final stretch. Disappointing. **½
For the third week in a row we get a Konnan video. I get it, Konnan was big in AAA. But he’s a manager now, and his charge, the champion, looks like a total loser by virtue of being overshadowed. Prince Puma is even in this video, but then it’s headlined by saying Konnan is the one getting revenge. So dumb.
Big Ryck def. Mr Cisco, Cortez Castro & Bael {Handicap Elimination Match}
You have to wonder if there was any plan for the Crew after this, because Ryck fully handled them. That said, it was pretty satisfying. After no-selling a few weapon shots and then using said weapons to eliminate Castro and Bael, Cisco tried to run away. Sexy Star kept that from happening, and then Ryck put Cisco through a chair with the uranage that he wouldn’t hit Star with. That gave him the win at 6:17. Not much of a match, but a fun story. **¾
Fenix def. Mil Muertes {Grave Consequences Match}
This is a casket match. It was one of the best casket matches I’ve ever seen. First off, Fenis had only ever beaten Muertes with surprise pins. So that was off the table here. Muertes beat Fenix within an inch of his life all over the building, using compelling violence that was always convincing. Fenix’s comebacks were all well done, lasting just long enough to keep the match going but not so long that it ever looked like Muertes wasn’t a real danger. In the end, it took Catrina’s help, as Fenix kicked Muertes off the apron into the casket, and Catrina licked the magic rock and closed the lid on it and Muertes at 14:45. ****¼
