Lucha Underground: Fire in the Cosmos

April 15, 2015 – Los Angeles, California

Dario Cueto visits Aerostar on the roof. He says that while Aerostar looks to the cosmos for inspiration, Drago looks to the fires of hell for his. He wishes Aerostar luck tonight.

Cage, King Cuerno & Texano def. Hernandez, Johnny Mundo & Prince Puma {Semifinal Match}
This was probably a best-case-scenario given everyone involved. The heel team wasn’t the most exciting group, but they provided a great foe for Mundo & Puma, and to a lesser extent to the goofy Hernandez as well. Shawn Daivari watched from the crowd, and I just don’t want that at all. Anyway, the match was a dope, scramble style match that never let up. Texano hit Puma with the bull rope and Cuerno pinned Puma after hitting the Thrill of the Hunt at 10:29. This match and the main event last week should have been reversed, because this was the first thing that Cuenro had ever done to suggest he might deserve a title shot. But now that he’s already had and lost his title shot, what’s the point? ***¾

Cueto comes out and asks for a sneak preview of next week’s three way trios finals. One member from each team will fight right now.

Cage def. Son of Havoc and the Mack {Triple Threat Match}
This started off really strong, but lost steam as it went on. Cage pinned Havoc with the Weapon X at 5:57. Not much more to say than that. **½

Cueto approaches Drago in the restroom. He weirdly calls attention to the fact that they have spoken to the restroom before.

Pentagon comes to the ring and tells the ring announcer to say that he dedicates a sacrifice to his master. Then he goes after the ring announcer until Sexy Star runs into the ring to save her. Vampiro also thought about getting up to help, which kind of makes you wonder why all the ex-wrestler commentators don’t stop heels from doing the worst things they do.

Drago def. Aerostar
This was the final match in the best of five series. Rather than a really fleshed out main event, this felt more like a stretched version of their five-minute matches. There was a really gnarly table spot that woke me up, but by and large this was solid but unspectacular. Drago wins with his wonky roll up at 10:16. After the match, Cueto tells Drago that he’ll be getting a title shot against Puma. But if Drago doesn’t win, he’s banned from the Temple forever. ***
