Dario Cueto welcomes Nightclaw to the Temple. He seems to be an evil version of Prince Puma. Cueto hands him an Ancient Medallion so that he can fight for the Gift of the Gods at Ultima Lucha Dos without battling in a qualifying match. Cueto takes him down a peg by saying that his Aztec tribe was the first to be destroyed because of their arrogance.
Daga def. Mascarita Sagrada {Ancient Medallion Match}
I don’t understand what they were doing with Daga. They have him win a four-way, but then lose to Son of Havoc, and now he’s in there going hold for hold with Sagrada, who could never be more than a comedy bright spot. At least he won in relatively short order with a crossface at 2:12. The crowd boos Daga for keeping the hold on too long as Kobra Moon stares at Daga from afar. Famous B attacks his client Sagrada after the match for letting him down, while Beautiful Brenda cries. B promises to find a better, famous client. *
Cueto tells El Dragon Azteca that his brother isn’t a killer. Azteca doesn’t believe him. Cueto finally tells Azteca that hit was Black Lotus who killed the original Azteca. Azteca will face Lotus at Ultima Lucha Dos.
Siniestro de la Muerte, Killshot & Marty Martinez def. Cortez Castro, Joey Ryan & Mr. Cisco {Ancient Medallion Match}
All three winners got a medallion. Martinez had to talk Killshot off the ledge and give him back his dog tags before the match so that they could coexist. The crowd was dead for this, which was weird not because it was good (it was awkward and pretty bad all around) but because this crowd is never dead. What was interesting is the extent that the commentators had to play dumb about the issues in the Crew, as they’re not aware of the backstage segments in this universe. It’s jarring and makes them sound dumb, but I don’t hate it as something different. In the end, the Crew couldn’t get along and Killshot took out Cisco with a diving double stop at 8:04. Marty Martinez stole the dog tags again after the match. *¾
Sexy Star & Mariposa defeat Ivelisse & Taya {Ancient Medallion Match}
Same deal as the last match, in that the whole winning team gets medallions and that both teams hate their partners. The hating partners thing held this back, as it was a distraction from the good work all four women were doing in the ring. Taya accidentally speared Ivelisse, allowing Mariposa to hit the Air Raid Crash on Ivelisse and put Star on top for the win at 9:49. **¼
Prince Puma comes out to address his fans for the first time, after something like sixty episodes. He wants a match against Rey Mysterio at Ultima Lucha Dos. Konnan used to call him the next Rey Mysterio, and teaming with Mysterio made him wonder if maybe he’s actually better than him. Mysterio comes out and accepts because he wants to know if he’s still got the goods.
