Lucha Underground: Eye for an Eye

February 18, 2015 – Los Angeles, California

Mil Muertes def. Chavo Guerrero
So yes, I did misremember last week. It wasn’t that Guerrero attacked Blue Demon that pissed off Muertes, it’s that when Guerrero was still pretending to be a babyface he protected Demon from Muertes. Muertes controls most of this match until Catrina comes out. She has some kind of magic rock that distracts Muertes. Guerrero gets disqualified at 5:39 when he hits Muertes with a chair. Muertes no-sells it and then hits a Flatliner on the chair. Muertes forces Catrina to give Guerrero the lick of death after the match, but she refuses. Muertes goes to attack her but Fenix makes the save. Fenix and Catrina make out. They could have cut this in half if the whole point was the post-match angle. **

Black Lotus sneaks around the temple, looking for something. Later, Dario Cueto is giving the Crew a main event spot. But they have to prove that taking out Big Ryck wasn’t a fluke and that they’re rabid dogs. Cueto doesn’t like that Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata, and Mascarita Sagrada are popular so he wants them to destroy those three.

Ivelisse def. Angelico
Ivelisse is stealing Son of Havoc’s match because she doesn’t think he can get the job done. Like the last match, this one was all gimmick. Angelico kept trying to make out with Ivelisse, and she just kept kicking him. A distraction from Havoc helped Ivelisse get the roll up victory at 2:41. After the match, Angelico hits on Ivelisse and shoves Havoc. *½

Texano def. Super Fly
In an interview with Vampiro, Texano said that Alberto El Patron stole the AAA Mega Championship from him. The match was a total squash. Texano hit a neckbreaker for the win at 1:32. A neckbreaker? After the match, Patron comes out and whoops Texano. N/A

Cage and his broken title belt approach Cueto in his office. He wants to be named champion despite not having beaten the champion. He needs to beat Prince Puma in a non-title match, and if he does he’ll get a shot. Cage gives Cueto his broken belt back. Guerrero comes in storms into Cueto’s office and quits. Cueto wishes him the best in his future endeavors, which drives Guerrero nuts. That was funny. Later, Lotus breaks into the room holding Matanza, only to be black bag kidnapped.

Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Mascarita Sagrada def. Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco & Bael {No Disqualification Match}
Escarlata gets taken out of the match early. Sagrada takes a powerbomb on the apron and the curb stomp on a chair. That left Star alone with the entire Crew, and Matt Striker admits on commentary that he knows he’s thought of as misogynistic. Somehow it makes me feel better that he knows. Star more than holds her own for a while, but the numbers catch up to her. The crowd hates seeing the Crew beat her up, and just in time Big Ryck returns. That’s enough of a distraction for Star to roll Bael up for the win at 7:42. There wasn’t much technical action here, but the story was compelling and very satisfying. **½
