December 6, 2011 – New York, New York
Four hours after Rasche Brown won the title, which we only see the final few seconds of, someone throws a gun into a river. One hour after he won the title, he handed it over to someone. A few hours later, Brown is killed. Showing these clips in quick succession out of chronological order is a misunderstanding of how to do the How We Got Here TV trope. The whole point of it is to start your show with something exciting because the beginning of the actual story is kind of boring. In this case, the beginning of the story is the crowning of the first champion.
The show is in a much smaller venue now, apparently in Manhattan. The crowd is probably the same size, but the smaller venue at least forced them to sit together more densely. It looks like they’re now running matches in the night club that’s been featured on other episodes.
Slymm (Big Babi Slymm) comes to the ring holding the UWF Championship belt. He has named himself champion. The commentators assume he has something to do with Brown’s murder. Brisco and Beast Ortiz shout at him from the rafters. Rather than deal with that, Slymm beats up a (planted) fan. Slyck Wagner Brown comes out with the Uncle Murda Crew but Slymm walks by them and leaves. He’s mad that Ortiz has a title match. I guess Slymm granted him a title match. This show has a really loose, almost improvisational feel. Ortiz and Brown brawl. Brown’s crew works over Ortiz until a couple of really fat guys make the save. One of them, who is probably close to 400 lbs, hits the weirdest looking slingshot senton I’ve ever seen. Big Baby Daddy and S Dott are their names. They’re representing the LEP Bogus Boys. Ortiz tries to leave, but Slymm’s crew attacks him with a trash can.
40 Glocc is in the Bronx on the phone with someone saying that he’s fine with gun violence.
Daddy and Dott get congratulated for their good work. Cage (no that Cage) walks up and gets recruited by the group. Then he gets beat up. It’s unclear if that’s an initiation or just a mugging, as his wallet, weed, and shoes do get stolen. This show is insane.
Cuban Link cuts a promo but doesn’t really say anything.
I should mention that sometimes there are shots of people just standing around not saying anything, shots of the street or an alley with no people, or people cutting impossible-to-understand promos and never being identified. I liked the second episode of this show, but between the first one and this one I am totally lost. I can’t tell if this show was put together by Republicans to reinforce black stereotypes, or if it’s an example of me just not understanding the culture a la the “yo, between you and me… this is because of slavery” episode of #BlackAF. Probably the latter but I like to think it’s the former. As an aside, I VERY recommend watching that episode of that show for insight into the topic.
Big Baby Daddy & S Dott def. Rage & Riot
As is tradition, we’re halfway into the show before the first match begins. Daddy took his shirt off and is looking like Abdullah the Butcher, though he hit spin kicks like Big Daddy V. This actually wasn’t terrible, as the fat guys (including Rage) had some moves and Riot was game to bounce around for them. They also got in and out before this had a chance to fall apart. Daddy & Dott took some big bumps too. It wasn’t psychologically sound or smooth or athletic, but it was definitely a spectacle. The Phat Pack hit the N-Word Please on Rage for the win at 6:49. **¾
Daemon Slugga and Facade argue about respect until Slugga tosses Facade into some scaffolding.
Steve Mack and Joker talk about Mack’s run in Florida, which is over now that he’s back in New York.
Jeez is flirting with a girl, but she turns out to be Billy Blue’s girl. Whoopsie.
Julius Smokes and Ruckus are hanging out at a club in the daytime. The Vulture Squad is not mentioned once. Lame.
Famous B runs into the Spanish Announce Team on the corner of 11th Avenue. He wants to know if they’re happy in their current crew. They’re not because Melle Mel and Red Cafe have been fucking up, so B offers them something new.
Steve Mack def. Jeez
Apparently Jeez screwed Mack’s girl, so Mack attacked him and then got kicked out of the group. They showed a clip of that on a previous show, but this is the first time we’ve gotten any context. Blue is still holding Jeez back from his girl, so at least this character is consistent. This was quite bad. Mack could only move in quick bursts, and there was a lot of dead space between those bursts. The best part of the match was Smokes and the white commentator arguing over how the inflection of the words “fat ass” makes all the difference in talking about Mack. Mack bled, Joker distracted Jeez, and then Mack hit a powerslam for the win at 7:27. *¾
Slugga and Link talk business on a sidewalk. Half of the conversation is mumbled and quiet, almost completely inaudible. Slugga is with Link as long as the paper is right.
A woman gets her purse stolen as she’s trying to get into her car.
At the club, Ruckus’s and his friends are chased off by Brown and his friends because Brown has a gun.
In the ring, Slymm’s whole crew beats up Facade. Facade is having no luck on this episode, which happened before the opening segment… and that’s the end of the episode. What the fuck?! This show was so incomeptent you have to laugh.
